Oh Boy!

Ross is 2 months old now and we made our way back to the doctor for a check-up. He hadn't been since he was 2 weeks old, so I was excited to see how much he has grown. It's pretty obvious by looking at him that he is a growing boy, but it's always fun to get those "official" numbers from the doctor! He is 12.9 pounds of pure, delicious baby fat...and just shy of 23 inches long. A growing boy for sure! Everything else checked out perfect too-how lucky we are! Not to mention, I took both kids to the appointment all by myself and did just great! Sometimes the idea of doing things with two kids seems scary, but once we're there it's a piece of cake! (Usually!)

Two Months Old!

He loves to smile at us now and I could spend all day giving him goofy grins and saying silly things just to see his smiles! He is sleeping pretty good, although not all night. Sometimes he is only up once to eat, sometimes twice, occasionally three times. He loves looking at toys now, especially anything with a face! Bridget is loving him a little more each day. She is so good about understanding that sometimes Ross needs me first and she has to share her mommy with her little brother.

Everyone wants to know how it is having two kids. Is it tough? Overwhelming? Exhausting? It can be all those things, but it doesn't compare to how wonderful it is to have the chance to be at home with them everyday. Most of the day is easy, fun and so rewarding. But of course, there are times when nothing seems to go right.
And this afternoon was one of those times.
At 2:00, I still hadn't eaten lunch, both kids were tired but fighting sleep, and of course there's laundry to be folded, a guest bedroom to get ready, and some very cluttered kitchen counters. I finally got them both down. I scarf down a sandwich, make my bed, take a phone call and Ross wakes up crying...which wakes Bridget up. And when she is woken up too early it is not pretty. She cries and cries and has no idea why she's crying. It feels like a 100 degrees in the house as I'm trying to console both of them who are clinging to me. My only hope was that maybe a car ride will calm them down. And today that did the trick. Bridget stopped crying and Ross went back to sleep. By 4:00, we were all happy again and counting down to Daddy's arrival home from work!

Even the toughest day at home gives me a reason to smile. Because even when they're crying and unhappy and I can't always figure out what they need, they're still the two most perfect things I've ever known!

Ross is 12.9 pounds of baby cuteness!! You are doing an awesome job of parenting two little ones. I can't lie and said it gets easier but you just adapt to the craziness. Your two are beautiful, happy and perfect; you must be doing something right! :) Hope you get to eat lunch before two o'clock today!!

They are just too cute - good for you for taking both kids to the appt by yourself!!! I've only had to do that once, lol! I can totally relate to every word you wrote in this entry - most times are good but some are crazy but in the end, it's the most rewarding thing!!! Glad to hear you're adjusting great with 2!! I knew you would!!
