Monday...please don't come

The weekend was great and I wish it didn't have to end. The weather is beautiful right now and there isn't a minute in the day that isn't perfect for being outside. We were invited to a pig roast on Sunday afternoon by a coworker of Todd's. Sounded like fun, so we packed up our gear and made our way over. The house was beautiful, but...it was on the water. As in, one wrong step and Bridget is overboard into the Gulf of Mexico. And of course, all Bridget wanted to do was get as dangerously close to the edge as possible. She has no fear of anything and doesn't yet understand why we keep pulling her away from things that are so fun to her! Todd and I spent an entire hour pulling her away from the dock's edge before we decided we would have to leave. We concluded that our backyard was much more fit for a 1 year old, so we brought a little table, beach chairs, and snacks outside for a late afternoon picnic once we got home. It was no pig roast, but that's okay!

Girls Weekend!

Weekends are great anyway, but add an extra day and a trip to visit family and it becomes the perfect weekend! My mom, Bridget and I got back Monday night from our girls trip to Louisville. It was so fun showing Bridget off to everyone. Some were meeting her for the very first time! She was such a good girl the entire weekend, despite the fact that we were constantly on-the-go going to new places and seeing lots of new people. We stayed with Tom and Jenni and their girls in their beautiful new home. Lily, Gracie and Abby were the greatest hostesses and seemed to make it their job to entertain Bridget. They also taught her a few girly-girl must do's:
1) Multiple outfit changes are a must each and every day.
2) Mom needs to have a fresh warm towel (straight from the dryer) for after bathtime.
3) You can never have too many baby dolls!

Jody picked us up on Friday night and the fun started then...
We woke up Valentine morning to homemade heart-shaped pancakes cooked by Uncle Tom-that would be Great Uncle Tom to Bridget! Jody picked us up for lunch and then took us to her apartment. I had never been there before, but it was exactly as I had pictured it would be. A cute, eclectic place in an old (but in a good way) building. The rest of the day was spent visiting with my Grandma and my mom's sisters. Bridget loved exploring all the different places we visited. As usual, she made herself busy by finding random objects to pick up and push around.

Sunday was much of the same...visiting, laughing, eating and telling the same 'ol stories. Monday wrapped up our quick visit, but we managed to squeeze in a yummy lunch and even a little shopping.

I wish we could visit more often and I hope more trips will follow soon. We know we will see some of you soon when you visit Florida and know that you are welcome at our house anytime!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Bridget and I are leaving Friday evening for our weekend trip to Louisville, so we celebrated Valentine's Day a little early! Todd brought home cute little gifts for both of us, we ordered pizza and had cupcakes for dessert. I've been telling Bridget all week that she is going to be flying on an airplane soon. I hope she is ready for the adventure! Hugs and Kisses to everyone!

Coats, Cookies and Caroline!

It was a cold week here in Florida. So cold, in fact, we didn't have to wait until our trip to Louisville to pull out our winter coats. We woke up to near-freezing temperatures in the morning and then enjoyed the sunny, but chilly afternoons.


Caroline came home for a weekend visit and we wanted to welcome her with some yummy Valentine cookies. Bridget was thrilled to be able to stand up on the chair to help! Like every other woman in my family Bridget would have preferred to enjoy the cookies without ever baking them. Mmmm...cookie dough! I didn't think that would be the greatest idea though, so we went ahead and baked them. Before diving into the finished cookies, Bridget very politely went and found a puzzle piece that she used as her plate. Then stuffed the entire cookie in her mouth...and then I let her do it again! We did save a few for Caroline and we hope she loved them! We finished our weekend with cuddles on the couch and we're ready to start a new week!

I have been trying for weeks now to get a great Valentine's Day shot of Bridget. Something I could use to send out cute little cards. I've gotten her all dressed up in red and white outfits, put the bows in her hair, given her cute little props-but I just can't get a good picture. She is so squirmy-wormy these days and as soon as the camera clicks she is off and running in the other direction. Here are some of my failed (but still kind of cute) attempts...
