Eggs, Bunnies and Candy!

Easter came a little early here as we hosted our 1st egg hunt and brunch for some of our favorite friends. Nearly 11 years ago I got a part-time summer job at Chili's as a hostess. Little did I know how much that job would change my life! Not only did I meet Todd there, but we made some of our very best friends while working there. A small group of us are still very close and over the past 11 years we've celebrated birthdays, engagements, weddings and babies together! And today we celebrated Easter with 5 mommies, 7 kids and lots of eggs!

We had a delicious brunch and the sun came out just in time for the egg hunt. The kids had a blast, but truthfully I think the mommies had more fun watching them run around and squeal with delight at those little plastic eggs. And sweet baby Ross, who is not quite big enough for egg hunting, perfectly slept in this swing the entire time! Waiting inside was my first attempt at a bunny cake. I thought it turned out great and tasted pretty yummy too!

More Easter fun to come for us all next week!

30 Never Looked So Good!

Happy 30th Birthday to Todd! Here is what being 30 looks like...
Photobucket
Pretty good, right?

Todd woke up early on Saturday, his birthday, and headed to downstairs to...WORK, of course! I caught him on his computer before 8am. That all changed when we gave him his gift. A Wii! He's not a video game junkie by any means, but I know he's enjoyed playing it at other people's houses and there are a lot of family friendly games for it. Bridget wasn't too sure about it at first. She kept thinking that "her" TV was broken, but once she saw it in action she liked it. She'll probably be out-playing us before we know it!

Later that day, we celebrated at home with family and friends on the most beautiful day of the year. It was perfect party weather! Todd's mom made him a scrapbook that started way back in 1980 when he was born. Everybody loved looking through it and laughing at all the memories. It was fun to compare his baby pictures to Bridget and Ross too...they both have a lot of Daddy in them! In between being the hostess and keeping up with both kids, I didn't take as many pictures as I had hoped, but I can promise you it was a great time! We love our daddy and our so thankful for everything he does for us!

I was excited for Ross to wear this "big boy" outfit to the party. He looked precious! However...about 30 minutes before the party he leaked through his diaper getting pee on his outfit and mine! Such a boy!

A few more pictures from last week...

Our Days at Home

Each week at home with two kids seems to get easier and easier. Ross is falling into a schedule and Bridget is adjusting to being at home everyday much better than before. The first few weeks at home she woke up every morning asking to go to Grandma's...since that had been her routine for nearly the past 2 years. We've seen a lot of Grandma and that makes her very happy, but she finally seems to understand that when she wakes up we don't have to rush to get out of the house by 7am.
Some days those "Terrible Two'" moments sneak out, but her sweetness the rest of the time makes up for it. Her spontaneous, "I wub (love) you, Mommy" are the best. I'm finding that I'm able to spend a lot more playtime with her that I thought I would be able to. When Ross sleeps we have tea parties, play ball, color & draw and basically whatever it is that she wants. She loves to my little helper too. We make the beds in the morning together, do the laundry, vacuum and of course, "helping" me cook is still a favorite.

And Ross?...What an angel he is! Really, he's just perfect! He's chubby, adorable and he's so good at the two things that are most important...eating and sleeping! My very favorite thing about him (besides his cheeks) are the the little fuzzy, wuzzy hairs on his head. So cute!! He turned one month old earlier this week, but it truly feels like he's been here forever! I can hardly believe how easy and wonderful it's been to transition from one to two kids. For me, it's been even easier that when we brought Bridget home.

Bridget is still warming up to her baby brother. She likes him at a distance, but rarely gets too close. She plants a kiss on his head every now and then, so for now I guess that will have to do!

We're loving the warmer Spring weather and preparing for a very special 30th birthday next week!

I'm Awake!

Ross is spending more and more time awake during the day and sleeping a little better at night. I hadn't been able to capture too many awake moments on my camera until today. He was lounging on the couch taking it all in. He probably would have stayed there even longer had I not been in his face with the camera...

We're looking forward to some warmer weather this upcoming week. The chilly temperatures don't seem to bother Bridget though. Everyday she begs to go outside to play ball, blow bubbles, ride in her car, go to the playground, etc. Her list of demands goes on and on!

Both kids are sleeping now, so I have to take this chance to get some rest myself!
