More of the Same, Plus a Birthday

Long time, no blog! We're here...just like always. And I guess one of the reasons I haven't been blogging too often is because we're doing the SAME things EVERY day! Playing and swimming; swimming and playing. Kinda boring. I guess you could say we're in the dog days of summer around here. I'm really enjoying the laid back summer schedule, but I can hardly believe it's coming to an end! We off on vacation soon and then in no time at all Bridget will be back in school! Fall is in the distance and I can't wait...football, birthdays, Halloween...I LOVE it!

A few weeks ago we took Bridget to her first trip to the movie theater to see Winnie the Pooh. It so fun for Todd and I to do this with her and we really went all out. Popcorn, soda, candy-why not?! The movie was short and sweet and being able to spend some time with just Bridget is always extra special!

She was a bit overwhelmed in the lobby.
Loud video games, big posters for scary movies and the scariest of all, the photo booth. "What are people doing in there??" she asked.

Popcorn, gummies and lemonade!

That's our best buddy Elliot, giving Ross a little love!

Bridget has been doing swim lessons here at the house for just over a month now. The first few weeks went well, but she wasn't ready to give up the swimmies. However, since last week's lesson, we've been swimmie free! She's swimming, bobbing, jumping and just loving it. Miss Amy is doing such a great job with her and if anyone in the area is looking into swim lessons, call me! Miss Amy is the best!

Love these two and their silly and sweet faces

Rosso the Bosso had his first haircut last week! It was an unplanned event that I just decided to do on a whim while I was out running errands. The first salon I came across while running errands on 41 was Bombshells: A Salon for Guys. I'm thinking, Hooters girls cutting hair, that's kind of funny, let's do it. He cried throughout the whole thing, but is new 'do is sooooo handsome!

We celebrated my birthday last weekend and it was perfect other than the face that Bridget keeps saying I'm 38.

Fun and Games

Somedays I'm not sure how we fit it all in, but we do...play dates, library trips, stops at Publix for "one more thing", lunches with friends, swim lessons, and if we're lucky in a little time to rest in between!

When we're at home we're just as busy too. Ross would like for me to read him the same 4 books over and over and over and over...while Bridget begs to play imaginary games like "Restaurant" and "Hotel" and "Ballet". They play together, they fight together-but there is so much love between them I just can't get enough of it. And while I'm thankful every single day to be able to be at home to watch all of this unfold, I've been feeling a little extra thankful this week. Being Bridget and Ross's mommy is the best job in the world.

We've enjoyed a few after dinner swims this week. After a rainy and dreary week last week, we were so happy to welcome the sunshine back this week!

Being a big sister isn't always easy. We ask her to give in a lot since Ross is "still just a baby" and she usually obliges without too much of a fuss. It's always nice to be able to let her do some Big Girl Only things. Things that little brothers just aren't ready for...

We finally let Bridget use the computer for the first time ever to play some alphabet games. Like a true 21st century kid, it took her no time at all to figure out how to navigate the buttons and games!

Little Bro has few things that are all just his too. Like Lovey. He loves his Lovey. It's his sleepytime security blanket that is always stationed in his crib, ready for the next nap. But lately Lovey has been making his way out of the crib. It's a true love affair.

Heading upstairs for the night where I always do one last sneaky peek at my sleeping babies. Feeling happy and blessed and lucky to be me!

Celebrating the 4th

We celebrated the 4th this past weekend just like all good Americans should...eating, drinking and swimming!

We had planned our "1st Annual Pool Party" for Saturday afternoon, but were disappointed to wake up on Saturday morning to some very dark clouds and a less than promising weather forecast. We debated what to do, but ended up sticking with the plan. It was still a bit drizzly as guests arrives, but the clouds eventually broke and it ended up being a great day.

The kids didn't care one bit that the sun wasn't shining on them as they swam. I was so happy to have a pool of laughing, swimming kids!

A few decorations...I think Chex Mix is right up there with being as American as apple pie!

Ross loves Kimmy:)

Later that night was the fireworks show at the outlet mall down the road. They put on a great show and I love that we don't have to drive far at all to enjoy it. The kids had a little picnic dinner and we set up in the back of the mini van to watch the show. Ross is still a little young for late nights and parking lot tailgates, so I admit it was a bit frustrating trying to keep him happy while waiting for the fireworks. But once the first big "boom" went off, all eyes were in the sky!

We had to wear this outfit twice over the weekend because it was just too cute! Beach Grandma searched high and low for this ensemble and Bridget loved it!

Ross being Ross....

With the big pool party and fireworks done, the rest of the weekend was quiet and relaxing. The weather cleared up and we swam at home and had one last cookout at my parents on Monday. These summer days are better than ever!
