Just home from a perfect weekend trip to Louisville to visit with family and enjoy some beautiful Fall weather. The kids (especially Bridget) were so excited for this trip and literally could not wait for the big day. She's old enough to remember our past trips to Louisville, so she knew exactly what fun was in store for her. And even better was the promise of Fall leaves, pumpkin patches and chilly weather. Louisville did not disappoint!
I was craving some temperature and climate change as much as everyone else I know. Us Floridians are spoiled in many ways, but everyone I know is dying for some Fall weather. I must have checked the weather forecast 100 times in the week leading up to our visit to make sure those temps were going to be just right.
Hello Fall and Hello Louisville...
Bridget found her first leaf the second we jumped out of Jody's car!
FAMILY TIME
I have lots of family in the Louisville area and it can sometimes be a challenge to see everyone, but we certainly try. Jody planned our weekend and made sure we got to do everything thing we wanted . She drove us everywhere, took us to yummy places to eat and let us hang out at her cool condo.
We stay with my aunt and uncle and their 4 sweet girls. Bridget talks about them ALL the time and even though we only get to see them once or twice a year she loves them so much. They are the sweetest girls who played with Bridget and Ross every second we were at their house. We are always so thankful for them for letting us come back and stay with them each time we visit!
On Saturday we saw more cousins and family at my Aunt Dodie's and Uncle Ray's. On the drive there, we saw the best fall trees yet, beautiful farms and lots of horses and cows. We took a ride on the lawnmower wagon to their lake and collected leaves and sticks.
After dinner, we played ping pong in the basement and made s'mores in the bonfire. The kids didn't want to leave!
PUMPKINS AND APPLES
I think our favorite part of trip was heading out to Huber's Farm to pick pumpkins (from a real pumpkin patch!) and pick apples (from a real orchard!) We picked a perfect pumpkin for Jody and picked lots of apples which my Aunt Dodie used to make us a delicious apple pie.
It was a perfect day out at Huber's.
Yay for a good family picture! So hard to get a decent one of everybody!
Loving the tractor ride!
Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!
PARKS AND PLAYTIME
Found some great parks while out and about and the kids couldn't get enough of the brown dirt and tree bark! Who would of thought this would entertain them for so long!
Met some friendly neighborhood ponies too!
Last year one of Bridget's preschool friends moved to Louisville, so got to see her too! The girls loved reuniting. They were both a little shy at first, but warmed up in no time. We miss Emerson, but are so glad her family is loving Louisville!
I could go on and on about all the fun we had and I have so many more pictures that I love from our weekend.
Thanks to everyone who make a point to see us and for playing and loving on our kids. They really talk about our Louisville family all the time. We can't wait to come back!
