The Florida Johnstons: Plan B Birthday Party

Happy Happy Birthday to our Sweet B! I love a good birthday party and I can't think of a better reason to go all out than turning 5 years old! Bridget's 5th birthday party has been in the works for more months than I should admit:) Little ideas here and there added up to a lot of fun and a very special day for the sweetest girl I know.

This year's party was Rainbow themed and since the theme was so girly-girl, we decided just to invite little girls her age. To get things really rolling, we headed to the park early last month to take some birthday pictures for her invitation...

As usual, there were a few very last minute things to get in order for the party, but for the most part everything was set and ready to go by last Thursday.

And then I got really, really, really sick with a stomach bug. I woke up the middle of the night on Thursday, hoping this would last just a couple of hours and I'd be fine by Friday with plenty of time to spare for the party on Saturday. Fast forward to Friday at 6pm and I'm still really, really, really sick. I didn't know what to do about the party. There seemed to be no right answer. I made a call to our clubhouse at the very end of the day on Friday and asked if the playground and pavillon area happened to be available for the next day. There was really just no way we could do this at our house with as sick as I was. It was available and that was that. Party at the playground!

Personally, I was disappointed because there were so many little things I had planned for that just wouldn't happen. But Bridget thought having the party at the playground was so cool. It didn't phase her one bit and she had the best day, which is really all that matters! Todd, my mom and my sister took over for me and made sure that Bridget's special day was just perfect!
