We celebrated the 4th this past weekend just like all good Americans should...eating, drinking and swimming!
We had planned our "1st Annual Pool Party" for Saturday afternoon, but were disappointed to wake up on Saturday morning to some very dark clouds and a less than promising weather forecast. We debated what to do, but ended up sticking with the plan. It was still a bit drizzly as guests arrives, but the clouds eventually broke and it ended up being a great day.
The kids didn't care one bit that the sun wasn't shining on them as they swam. I was so happy to have a pool of laughing, swimming kids!
A few decorations...I think Chex Mix is right up there with being as American as apple pie!
Ross loves Kimmy:)
Later that night was the fireworks show at the outlet mall down the road. They put on a great show and I love that we don't have to drive far at all to enjoy it. The kids had a little picnic dinner and we set up in the back of the mini van to watch the show. Ross is still a little young for late nights and parking lot tailgates, so I admit it was a bit frustrating trying to keep him happy while waiting for the fireworks. But once the first big "boom" went off, all eyes were in the sky!
We had to wear this outfit twice over the weekend because it was just too cute! Beach Grandma searched high and low for this ensemble and Bridget loved it!
Ross being Ross....
With the big pool party and fireworks done, the rest of the weekend was quiet and relaxing. The weather cleared up and we swam at home and had one last cookout at my parents on Monday. These summer days are better than ever!
